Yorkshire based Creative Arts Practitioner- Carly Wood has worked in Community Theatre and Education for over 15 years. Taking on roles as a Workshop Facilitator, Creative Director, Content Writer and Artist in Residence for various companies across the country, Carly has worked in close partnership with organisations such as Leeds Art Gallery, Women’s Aid Leeds, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Northern Ballet and many more- before establishing Ignite Immersive Education in 2025.
Since graduating from University in 2010, Carly has visited schools and organisations across the UK using the Creative Arts such as drama, music, movement, and dance as a vehicle for exploring the curriculum. She explores classroom subjects from Literacy to History and PHSE topics such as Internet Safety, Anti-Bullying through The Arts and additionally to this has experience in delivering Mindfulness workshops.
In most recent years Carly has worked as an Artist in Residence working with diverse communities, refugee children and those who speak English as an additional language. Her inclusive workshops allow children with limited English to engage with the curriculum, whilst improving their language skills.
Carly is also a writer, content creator and presenter on a children’s learning app and digital platform where her creative learning activities are viewed by young people across the globe daily.
When not working with young people, Carly sings professionally and has performed across Europe and completed contracts in the South Pacific.
Carly’s aim as Director of Ignite Immersive Education is to encourage young people to flourish in confidence and shine as they use creative and performing arts to explore new topics and social issues, accessing their creativity and imagination to the fullest! She is also hugely passionate that The Arts are accessible to every child and is committed to providing an outstanding standard of delivery and an affordable service for schools across Yorkshire.
