Carly wOOD- FOUNDER AND dIRECTOR
Yorkshire-based Creative Arts Practitioner Carly Wood has worked in community theatre and education for over 15 years. With a wealth of experience as a Workshop Facilitator, Creative Director, Content Writer, and Artist in Residence, she has collaborated with numerous organisations across the UK—including Leeds Art Gallery, Women’s Aid Leeds, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Northern Ballet, and many more. In 2025, Carly founded Ignite Immersive Education to further her mission of transforming the way young people engage with learning.
Since graduating from university in 2010, Carly has delivered workshops in schools and organisations nationwide, using the creative arts—drama, music, movement, and dance—as a dynamic vehicle for exploring the curriculum. Her approach brings subjects like Literacy, History, and PSHE to life, tackling key topics such as Internet Safety and Anti-Bullying through immersive, arts-led experiences. She also brings experience in delivering Mindfulness workshops, promoting well-being through creativity.
In recent years, Carly has taken on Artist in Residence roles, working with diverse communities, refugee children, and pupils for whom English is an additional language. Her inclusive workshops empower children with limited English to engage meaningfully with the curriculum, while simultaneously developing their language and communication skills.
Carly is also a writer, content creator, and presenter for a global children’s learning app and digital platform, where her interactive, arts-based educational content is accessed by young learners around the world every day.
Outside the classroom, Carly is a professional singer who has performed across Europe and completed international contracts in the South Pacific.
As Director of Ignite Immersive Education, Carly is passionate about helping young people flourish in confidence, creativity, and self-expression. Her vision is to make the arts accessible to every child, offering high-quality, affordable creative education experiences to schools across Yorkshire and beyond
